Therapeutic ultrasound is the use of sound of waves, produced by a vibrating crystal within the
hand held probe, to produce various physiological effects. Depth of penetration: Varies
depending on the applicator used: 1 MHz applicator penetrates 2 - 5 cm 3 MHz applicator
penetrates 0.5 – 2 cm
